7th Annual César Chávez Celebration
This annual event focuses on educating our communities about the legacy of César E. Chávez, an unselfish advocate of social justice and respect for human dignity. The celebration’s programming highlights the youth in our community who every year interpret Chavez’s words through student contests. Winners will be showcased at a free celebration event held in the Marcus Performing Arts Center.
Theme: A Preference to Help the Most Needy – A concerted effort to support programs that reach the most needy, the most dispossessed, the most forgotten people in society no matter how difficult the challenge that choice may bring.
“We are tired of words, of betrayals, of indifference …the years are gone when the farm worker said nothing and did nothing to help himself…Now we have new faith. Through our strong will, our movement is changing these conditions…We shall be heard.”
Contests for this year are now closed.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
In an effort to provide a celebration that can include all participants and be shared with a wider audience, the 7th Annual César Chávez Celebration originally scheduled for April 6, will now be pre-recorded and a link will be provided to view the awards ceremony and speeches on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 4pm. There will be no in-person event this year.
