10th Annual Minority Health Month Event, Breaking the Silence: Addressing Dementia in Communities of Color

Note: This event is at full capacity. There are no spots left at this time.

The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Regional Milwaukee Office is celebrating 10 years of ‘Breaking the Silence’ events by presenting Mama’s Girls, a play spotlighting family caregivers by the award-winning playwright Garrett Davis. Mama’s Girls is the latest stage production that addresses the struggles and hardships of caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and other related dementias.

This production is an engaging way to provide information to help caregivers understand their journey and offer support to care for their loved ones. Davis’ plays bring to light health issues and concerns facing communities of color in the hope of raising awareness and creating change. This production will be customized and tailored to include information and resources that families can utilize in Southeastern WI. There will be an intermission panel discussion with caregivers, providers, and community partners to give attendees tips and tools to assist them on their caregiving journey.

This event is presented by Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute – UW Madison, an independent organization separate from the Marcus Performing Arts Center.
